City of New Orleans, Arlo Guthrie
My dad, my step-dad and my mother all worked for the IC. My dad and step dad were switchman (often working out of Markham Yards in East Hazel Crest) and my mother was a telephone operator. I'm 76, so this would be in the 50's onward. Oh, and I was a passenger a many a times. We lived in Chicago and Hazel Crest.

“Fake It Till You Make It” – And Other Potentially Catastrophic Advice – Simpleology Blog
“Fake It Till You Make It” – And Other Potentially Catastrophic Advice – Simpleology Blog: As William James, the father of modern Psychology, observed …
“Thus the sovereign voluntary path to cheerfulness, if our spontaneous cheerfulness be lost, is to sit up cheerfully, to look round cheerfully, and to act and speak as if cheerfulness were already there. If such conduct does not make you soon feel cheerful, nothing else on that occasion can. So to feel brave, act as if wewerebrave, use all our will to that end, and a courage-fit will very likely replace the fit of fear”

I saw another article about certain fast food restaurants were re-opening and I thought about a recent post on Facebook where I suggested that the food industry needed to be scrutinized about their complicity in the obese problem this country has. But then I saw where this community was taking the bull by the horns and offering to address the situation voluntarily.

I remember when I smoked people with overt sensibilities to cigarette smoke did not want to be around me so that's it. I could go back to smoking and guarantee that people would stay 6 ft away from me or farther. Another reason to go back to smoking is that I didn't start gaining weight until I quit smoking the first time, so there again is another reason to start smoking again.

Neither One Of Us Gladys Knight and the Pips
Yesterday I played this song that starts with the words "It's sad to think, that we're not going to make it" And today we learn that estimates are that 100,000 to 200,000 may die and we're only at what, 2,000 + Even more from a minute ago press conference we hear The bottom line: Trump said that modeling shows that if the social distancing restrictions are effective, the U.S. can expect to be "well on our way to recovery" by June 1."
It's sad to think, that we're not going to make it. That's not the song singing, that's me saying. Economically, financially there's no way many can go that long with no source of income. The consequences of people starving are going to be all to real. The printing presses can't print the money fast enough to save the despairing lives who have no resources to even afford food, housing, and utilities. We're not talking recession we're talking depression, and folks are just not the stalwarts that American was in the Great Depression.
Unrest is just around the corner and the Government knows it and you better believe they are preparing for it. From church today was the message that we can choose how to feel about it. We don't have to give in to fear. That's good. But I don't think that's going to prevent what's coming. Dying with a smile on my face is still dying. Dying alone, separated from our loved ones, not even being able to attend our loved ones funeral is going to be an agonizing experience. It's sad to think....

I don't have time for anything else. I will not do as I have for way to many years wait til the final moment. There have been times I chased down the last OPEN U S Post Office to get that midnight postmark on my return. But not this year, I've got all my ducks lines up in a row and they are waiting to be entered. The only thing this year I am doing a little more research on deductions and best ways and places to file. So Let's see if I can get some sleep before half past a quarter to three in the morning.

(8) Memories
(8) Memories: Somehow we have to contend for better weather. Maybe we should write a letter to our weatherman and tell them they need to do a better job. Or fancy a March for Warmer Weather. And so it is, we are seemingly always CONTENDING for something. Doesn't mean it has to be a contentious contending, but contending nevertheless. Even Biblically we are suppose to "contend for the faith". When Rodney King spoke those words, "Why can't we all get along" he failed to understand the nature of man (or woman). It is in our nature to "not get along". I mean Cain killed Abel right out of the gate, no mere fistfight, kabow!!! I know, I know, "Love thy neighbor" And I have a whole life time of seeing how that has gone. Some neighbors have been lovable, most have not. And others, well they're just there. Throw in a little "that was then, this is now." And you barely remember what it was about them that made them memorable in the first place. "Oh, that's right. They owe me $10" I think I have strayed from the beaten path and lost my way with this subject. That's part of life too. Remember the Wayward Wind? Who sang that? So as we gear up for another contentious or contending day just remember. It comes naturally, no, you don't always get your way because someone else wants to get their way. The End.
(8) Memories
(8) Memories: UnoddixiLLY, (See, this is why I am buying a new keyboard when we finally escape this frozen tundra.) That first word is suppose to be "Unofficially, I am working the midnight shift in the almost 3 AM hour. I have lost my total focus on what I was going to expound upon. It was not about politics, the weather or the Souper Bowl. Those things you can read in the paper or other websites. (And pay attention to the number of employees being laid off by journalistic mediums from Buzzfeed to Gannet), they're telling indeed.
Ever since the Cubs won the World Series and Hell froze over and pigs now fly I have been faced with the dilemma of "What's Next?" When all your life you have defended your allegiance to these hapless wonders and suffered the scorn from all the non-believers and YOUR DAY HAS COME. It's not enough, you want more but there is no more. Because you haven't wanted long enough through the pain and trials of that tauntingly mantra, "wait til next year." There is only 1 Chicago Cubs team, and only 1 Chicago Cubs fan base. Others teams may win excessively, and have you seen their empty stadiums, I have. But, we are a species unto ourselves. And now we have no 'shiny' object to search for. That is why all the palaver about newspaper headlines don't excite us. We need something to strive for that is not going to quench our thirst. But fear not. I already see in the inactivity of the front office, the giving away of our future talent, the signing of 'has beens' who are already members of AARP, that we will be back to our familiar mediocrity which we enjoyed for so long. We will return to seasons of yesteryear and relish our mantra once again. "Wait Til Next Year. The End

The Penny Challenge Can Help You Save More Than $600 This Year
The Penny Challenge Can Help You Save More Than $600 This Year That's right. What I don't know is can you, after having accumulated enough, invest it in a compound interest savings account. That was you would have even more than $600 by the end of the year. A fair amount to spend for Christmas, let's say?
