TSA workers face verbal abuse from travelers - Travel - News - msnbc.com

TSA workers face verbal abuse from travelers - Travel - News - msnbc.com

Airline passengers aren’t the only ones complaining about the Transportation Security Administration’s new enhanced security procedures. Many TSA employees aren’t too happy, either.

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the union that represents TSA workers, is urging the TSA to do more to protect its employees from abuse from airline passengers angry over the new security methods. The union reports that some members “have reported instances in which passengers have become angry, belligerent and even physical with TSOs (transportation security officers). In Indianapolis, for example, a TSO was punched by a passenger who didn’t like the new screening process,” the union said in a Nov. 17 statement posted on its website.

For 30 years, Marcia Miller has flown to Toledo, Ohio, to join four generations of her family for Thanksgiving. But this year, thanks to new airport security measures, she's opting to stay home. Full story

..Union President John Gage called on TSA to provide an educational pamphlet to each passenger describing both their rights and the details of the new procedures, which include full-body scans and enhanced pat-downs.

“This absence of information has resulted in a backlash against the character and professionalism of TSOs,” said Gage in a statement. “TSA must act now — before the Thanksgiving rush — to ensure that TSOs are not being left to fend for themselves.”

“Our concern is that the public not confuse the people implementing the policies with the people who developed the policies,” said Sharon Pinnock, the union's director of membership and organization.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Monday the government will take into account the public's concerns and complaints as it evaluates airport security measures. He says TSA procedures will continue to evolve.

Story: TSA chief apologizes to traveler with ostomy

Some travelers have vowed to disrupt airport security Wednesday in a protest timed for the busiest travel day of the year, as millions of Americans fly off for annual family feasts.

“TSOs are trained security professionals,” Pinnock said. “Despite this call for chaos and disruption, it’s our belief that our members and people we represent will respond as the security professionals that they are.”

Valyria Lewis, local president of AFGE Local 555, which represents TSA screeners in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina, said TSOs are trained to screen passengers who opt out of full-body scans.

“But we’d like TSA to hand out pamphlets detailing what opt out means. When someone opts out of the X-ray scanners, they’re opting in for the pat-down,” Lewis said. “And once we explain what the pat-down is, you can’t go back and change your mind and say ‘OK, I’ll go through the scanner.’ We’d like that explained so officers aren’t caught in that crossfire.”

The National Treasury Employees Union, the largest independent federal union, has launched a campaign in support of the TSA to educate the public about the critical role played by TSA officers in helping secure the safety of air travel.

“We stand by them this holiday season and ask the American public to stand by them as well and respect the difficult job they perform to protect our skies and our country,” said NTEU President Colleen M. Kelley in a statement.

Complaints of verbal abuse
Full-body scanners are now in place at close to 70 airports and send virtually naked images of passengers to a TSA screener at a remote location. Those who wish to avoid the scanners must instead undergo a new, open-palmed pat-down that many travelers, and even some security officers, feel is too personally invasive.

Aviation and security blogger Steven Frischling said he has received comments from TSA front-line screeners complaining of verbal abuse.

“Molester, pervert, disgusting, an embarrassment, creep. These are all words I have heard today at work describing me. ...These comments are painful and demoralizing,” one unnamed TSO posted on Frischling’s website.

Another said: “Being a TSO means often being verbally abused. You let the comments roll off and check the next person; however, when a woman refuses the scanner then comes to me and tells me that she feels like I am molesting her; that is beyond verbal abuse.”

“I have encountered a few TSA transportation security officers that have the ‘We're keeping people safe’ attitude,” said Frischling, “But when you ask them about specific aspects of the TSA's policy or procedure, they backpedal a bit and admit there are problems.”

TSA chief John Pistole said Monday on NBC’s TODAY show that the agency is reviewing its passenger screening methods to ensure they are as minimally invasive as possible. "We're going to look at how can we do the most effective screening in the least invasive way knowing that there's always a trade-off between security and privacy," Pistole said.

Pistole noted that those getting body searches constitute "a very small percent" of the 34 million people who have flown since the new policy went into effect.

“Obviously our work force has received the brunt of the frustration from passengers but seem to be dealing with it quite well, as they have been reassured they are doing a critical job at a critical time,” said TSA spokesman Nico Melendez. He added that TSA employees are prohibited from talking to the media “without prior approval.”

“The thing to keep in mind is that stress affects screeners as much as it does travelers,” said Tom Murphy, director of the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University. Murphy has provided customer-service training to screeners at many U.S. airports. “While senior government officials explore how to achieve optimum security in less intrusive, and therefore less stressful, ways my recommendation to travelers is to try to see this from the screeners’ point of view.”

A stressful job
Guy Winch, an expert on the psychology of complaining and customer service and the author of a forthcoming book, “The Squeaky Wheel,” is concerned with the stress levels TSA employees may be experiencing this week on the job.

He explains that the “emotional labor” TSA workers must do — “processing people regardless of hostile exchanges … and looking for explosives and weapons” — makes the stakes for performing their duties correctly “as high as they get.” Winch says the best thing TSA administrators can do for employees doing enhanced pat-downs is to provide an extra layer of managerial and supervisory support. “They need to convey the message that superiors are aware of the stresses the employees are under and are there to support them.”

Winch says having a mental health professional on staff or available as a referral “can be crucial in helping the people who did not make these rules but are charged with enforcing and implementing them nonetheless.”

Stewart Baker, who worked at the Department of Homeland Security as its first secretary of policy under President George W. Bush, suspects the new security protocols and the aggressive reaction of some passengers is hurting TSA morale.

“TSA has made a lot of progress in training its officers to be professional even in the face of unhappy passengers, but the latest protocols — and press coverage of the most inflammatory stories — have led to a much higher level of hostility,” said Baker.

“Instead of making this Wednesday National Opt-Out Day in which a bunch of self-appointed guardians of liberty slow down the line for everyone by asking for pat-downs,” said Baker, “maybe what we need is a day when everyone who goes through the line says, ‘Thanks for what you do.’ ”

John Thomson Speaking:

Baskically, this article describes my life. I have all of these conditions. I take all of these medications. And I have almost all of the side effects. I have also had the privilege to have had chelation treatments in California in 2005. The treatments however were not intended for my heart condition as much as it was for my over all health situation. I did not return to chelation treatments when I returned from California. So there it is layed out for me quite clearly. In my present predicament I am under a death sentence I already have had a double-bypass and two angio-plasties.

Sugar is my enemy even moreso than cigarettes. I wonder should I trade sugar for cigarettes. My sugar count is at the diabetic level over 7. I don't sleep because of in part the medications, so I eat, my nurse tells me I should not snack after 10 pm, what can i do at 3 am? I finally asked her, "well, what about whiskey." She said not with the medications. So this article says the medications are harmful and everyone says sugar is white and anything white is bad for you. (Wheres my race card) So Im back to Jack Daniels "if you please" and call for Phillip Morris. Stay tuned for "One More Day, Please" Oh and read the article, if you have a heart it just might have something to say to you as well.

Therapy May Be Able to Save 30 Percent of U.S. Lives... Condemned!

Do you know what happens when your blood doesn't flow freely to your heart? Or your arteries don't pump enough blood to your legs? Or what happens when your brain doesn't get enough oxygen from your blood?

You can get gangrene... suffer stroke or heart attack... or even die.

That's because as you age your arterial walls grow thick with plaque deposits. As that happens, your blood flow slows down. And when your plaque grows too thick... it strangles your blood flow altogether. It's a condition we call atherosclerosis. And it accounts for one‐third of all deaths in the U.S.

Doctors often tackle this problem with statin drugs. But these drugs are expensive and sometimes ineffective. Worse, they can do more harm than good.

Experts and research alike oppose their use. Despite this, statins remain our first-line of defense.

And yet, there's another therapy which some doctors claim is effective and safe. They point to evidence which has been compiled over 50 years - and in over 3,000 studies. Those pioneering surgeons say they have been successfully using this therapy for years. A Nobel-Prize winning doctor champions it.

But the medical industry has condemned its use. The FDA... American Heart Association (AHA)... and the American Medical Association (AMA) have joined together to shut this therapy out.

We reveal what this therapy is... and investigate whether it's worth considering...

Battling Plaque

Plaque deposits form when decaying muscle cells, fibrous tissues, fat, cholesterol, and calcium deposits build up inside your arteries. These deposits can form anywhere in your body. But they are most dangerous when they grow near your heart or brain.

Growth usually starts in areas with turbulent blood flow. Where narrow vessels cause pressure to build up. Or where valves don't close tightly.

Plaque increases with age. It causes your arteries to become hard and lose elasticity. When this happens, blood clots may form and break off. That blocks smaller vessels.

According to conventional medicine, high levels of blood cholesterol indicate plaque build-up. When that happens, your doctor will likely advise you to start taking statin drugs, which can lower your bad LDL cholesterol.

Getting Serious about Statins

It's true that statins can lower cholesterol levels. But many experts believe that cholesterol is not the primary cause of heart disease. (See "The True Cause of Heart Disease")

There's certainly plenty of evidence that suggests they're not the best treatment for atherosclerosis.

Here are just some of the many side effects of statins:

dizziness
nausea or upset stomach
lack of appetite
reduced liver function - which can cause jaundice
itchy skin
abdominal pain
dark‐colored urine
constipation
cramps and muscle pain
joint pain
weakness
fever‐like symptoms
insomnia
nightmares
loss of memory
sexual dysfunction
depression
shortness of breath
irritating cough
No wonder some doctors advise against using statins.

Among them is Garry Gordon MD, DO, founder of the Gordon Research Institute.

"I will not recommend something with a five percent so‐called benefit if there is a known risk as we have with statins," says Dr. Gordon. "I can avoid [these risks] with alternative approaches."

Seeking Alternative Therapies

Dr. Gordon is known worldwide for his study of EDTA chelation. Years ago, he studied and learned about EDTA chelation therapy. EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra‐acetic acid) is an amino acid that's chemically similar to vinegar.

EDTA chelation was first created in the 1930s. Back then it was used as an intravenous treatment for heavy metal poisoning. But as patients recovered from metal poisoning, they noticed a dramatic improvement in other symptoms including coronary artery disease.

And so the studies began. Dr. Gordon researched the therapeutic effects of EDTA. He focused primarily on heart disease.

He discovered that over the past 50 years, more than 3,000 studies, articles, and reviews have confirmed that EDTA is a safe and effective treatment for heart disease. It's since been used by over two million patients.

"Look at my patients," says Dr. Gordon. "They have any level heart disease and many of them are alive after five years. Compare [that to] those on standard therapy."

He has spoken out about how most doctors see heart disease. He says that "they consider the diagnosis of congestive heart failure to be a death sentence."

He notes that is "because over 60 percent of their patients are dead within the first year."

On the other hand, he says, "I haven't lost one patient with congestive heart failure in 10 years."

He states that he's saved patients who were inoperable. Patients who had already had every known form of bypass surgery, "until there were no more veins in their legs to strip out to put in their hearts."

"They were sent home to die and I could get those people back to full functioning," says Dr. Gordon. "I've had doctor friends who wouldn't take the IV at first. They're now on oral EDTA and are able to pass a treadmill stress test that they couldn't pass for five years."

Dr. Gordon advises patients against surgery, statins, and stents. He's not convinced that cholesterol is the primary reason for heart attacks. Rather, he thinks it's a combination of plaque buildup, blood clots, and inflammation.

His therapy tackles these conditions with a multi-pack of oral pills. These include a strong multivitamin, omega-3, primrose oil, a phosphatidyl serine with Gingko biloba, and three capsules containing the EDTA-enhanced institute formula. He says his tests show that such a combination lowers viscosity. This helps prevent fatal blood clots. It also breaks down plaque and helps tackle inflammation.

He also prescribes a diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids and low in toxins to combat inflammation and reverse plaque.

11 Breakthrough Cures from Around the World

What if a simple method could root out and separate cancer cells from healthy cells to easily target and kill them? What if a biopharmaceutical company had actually discovered a way to reverse aging on a genetic level... then buried the research? What if a volcanic mineral could eliminate all risks of heart disease? These aren't just theoretical cures. View this special video presentation to find out more...

Closing Ranks

Dr. Gordon points to the 3,000 studies that support the benefits of this therapy. But despite all the research, the AHA says the benefits of such therapy haven't been proven. It says it's reviewed the literature and doesn't find enough evidence to support this therapy.

The AHA's official policy states:

"Employment of this form of unproven treatment may deprive patients of the well-established benefits attendant to the many other valuable methods of treating these diseases."

Many other mainstream medical groups agree. These include the FDA; the American College of Physicians; the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; the National Institutes of Health; the AMA; and the American College of Cardiology.

But Dr. Gordon disagrees and points to 50 years or research that he says supports this treatment. He also notes his own documented success.

With so many naysayers, does anyone else support EDTA chelation therapy?

The Artery Health Institute has done its own tests. They found EDTA - mixed with garlic extract, malic acid, and parsley - immediately improves circulation. Full effects can be reached within three months of therapy.

And two‐time Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling, PhD, has publically championed the therapy.

"EDTA chelation therapy fits in well with my views on health care," says Dr. Pauling.

He recommended that doctors embrace this new therapy if they want to save lives.

"Physicians who administer EDTA integrate the results of my own research into their chelation program," says Dr. Pauling. "Chelation therapy will be of great advantage to the nonsurgical treatment for atherosclerosis."

Plenty of other experts are championing this therapy.

Bruce Halstead, MD, founder of the World Life Research Institute, says over two million chelation treatments have been performed in the U.S. alone. There was not a single fatality in the group.

In 2003, the National Institutes of Health started an extensive $30 million clinical double‐blind trial on EDTA chelation therapy for coronary heart. But the 10‐year study was shut down in 2008 - just halfway through its run.

The Office for Human Research Protections demanded its suspension. That's because several pharmaceutical groups complained, citing "inadequate informed consent."

Dr. James P. Carter, M.D., PhD, suggests the government might be bending to pressure from Big Pharma to suppress therapies like EDTA.

Dr. Carter is a 50-year medical professional. Before retiring in 2007, he ran his own private practice in Mandeville, Louisiana... and served as the long-time Head of the Nutrition Section at Tulane University School of Medicine.

"The new therapy threatens the financial well-being of a politically powerful and well established branch of the medical profession," says Dr. Carter. "Quite the opposite occurred with the immediate and widespread acceptance of bypass surgery and balloon angioplasty. It quickly brought wealth and fame to surgeons, cardiologists, large teams of health care professionals, and the hospital industry."

That leaves prospective patience with two choices: opt for FDA approved methods. Or explore this alternative therapy.

The smartest option is to speak with a doctor you trust. Be sure it's a physician who doesn't profit from chelation treatments... but one who values a natural approach.

In the meantime, we'll be reporting further on this important issue in the near future.

So you think i SHOULD VOTE | Thomson Home Emporium Shopping Store

I've lived through 7 decades and I ain't seen no better ever, no matter who has been in office, I've seen churches and Pastors all fall down I've seen best of friends turn on each other the only things that have been consistent in life live in the animal world, if theres a box to leave this planet, I'll vote because humanity is the most evil thing on earth. Period.

To tell you the truth I don't have an ounce of faith in this political system nor any of the politicians left, right or in the middle. After all the campaigning of lies and distortions that we have seen in how many years of our lives. We can finish the ad before its even out of their mouth because its the same old drivel that has been preached since time immemorial. The Bible says "there is nothing new under the sun." "What you see is what you get." is probably the closest thing to being the truth out there. How many years have we been watching "Feed The Children." How many years have we been adopting children in poverty. This is the cruelest game of Monopoly ever invented. "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire will be as relevant when your great-grandkids are born as when it first came out.

I could go on and on but what good would it do. I cringe every time I see a new born baby because it sickens me to know what awaits them. Don't give me your hope filled dreams and faith in God. I've heard that all my life. God is God for the afterlife, the Devil runs this show.

Feed Your Cold This Half Cent Make-at-Home Remedy

Feed Your Cold This Half Cent Make-at-Home Remedy

Dear Reader,

Sometimes, mom does indeed know best.

It turns out that at least one of those old wive’s tales that you’ve probably heard, and most likely dismissed, most of your life may in fact be true. (I guess that makes it an old wise tale, huh?)

I suffered with chronic strep throat as a kid. I spent half of every winter battling the strep bug and the other half fending off the common cold. My mother (who’d be less than pleased if I called her an “old wife”) always had me gargle with saltwater to ease the pain of my swollen tonsils or to ward off my sniffles. And although the saltwater tasted awful, I have to admit it always did the trick for me.

Now, with the weather taking a turn toward the cooler side and with the cold and flu season rapidly approaching, the popular old wive’s tale that says a gargle with good ole saltwater is good for what ails you will once again start circulating.

Surprisingly, it turns out that there is indeed some science to back up this home remedy.

According to one study that appeared in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, a saltwater gargle can do more than help fight symptoms once they appear; there’s some solid evidence that it can keep you healthier during the winter cold and flu season.

Scientists followed a group of almost 400 volunteers for 60 days during the peak of the cold and flu season. Some volunteers were instructed to gargle with saltwater three times a day. At the end of the study the gargling group had a stunning 40% drop in upper respiratory tract infections as compared to the group that did not gargle.

The researchers also found that those in the saltwater group who did get sick reported an improvement in their symptoms, such as a sore throat, when they gargled with the briny water.

So why does it work?

The salt helps to draw excess liquid out of the swollen throat tissues that are causing you pain. In addition the gargling action helps to loosen up and clear away mucous, which may be trapping in allergens and bacteria that are making your sick.

To put mom’s remedy to work for you, at the first sign of a scratchy throat or sniffle, dissolve 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of salt in about 8 ounces of warm water. Tilt your head back and gently gargle with a mouthful of the saltwater for about 15 seconds and then spit it into the sink. Repeat with the entire glass.

Believing that the old adage should have been “Starve a fever and feed saltwater to a cold,”

SBI! - Case Studies

SBI! - Case Studies

The biggest mistake people make in life is not
making a living at doing what they most enjoy.
- Malcolm S. Forbes (1919-1990)

Site Build It! (SBI!) the only all-in-one site-building, site-hosting, and site-marketing product that makes it easy to build a professional, popular, and profitable business.

SBI! works for every type of small-small business ("SSB"). For example, are you thinking of starting a Net-based, work-from-home business? SBI! is perfect, even if you have no online business experience. Click SHOW to see how SBI! makes your business successful.

HIDE THIS
SBI! works for every type of small-small business ("SSB"). SBI! makes you successful, no matter what type of business you do. Let's take a look...
SSBs The "Small-Small Business" ("SSB")... we use this term to include any 1-to-10-person small business. It is not the same as the "SME" space, which one tends to generally think of as "larger small businesses and up."
SSBs include an infinite variety of niches (from antique watch repair to zoological gardening). Much like the universe itself, the "niche-space" is forever expanding, with the number and variety of services and products growing geometrically. And it is the SSBs, the real backbone of our economy, that create and fill those niches.
While there are an infinite number of possible niches, the SSB space can be divided into a dozen types of businesses. Does your business (or concept for a business) fit into one of the following types of business? If so, SBI! is perfect for you...
Infopreneurs/Information-Publishing
Now you can publish what you know and love... and monetize it. Together with a blend of affiliate programs and referral deals and finder's fees, Google Ads (through their AdSense program) anchor the generation of income that can amount to thousands of dollars per month. You can be a "pure infopreneur" and never sell a product or service... or you can build upon this foundation of information with a mix of other business types below. Your choice, depending on your skills, inclination, and time availability.
SOHOs & Work-From-Home
Run a real business from home, full- or part-time. For example, the stay-at-home spouse or retired person (or teenager!), even the "downsized" (opportunity in disguise) can all become thriving SOHOs. Or do you have a 9-5 that you despise and want to become a SOHO? Start SBI! -- you're one year or less away from "quitting the day job." Go from NOHO to SOHO and achieve independence. No "biz opp" here -- this is real.
Service Businesses
Offer a service related to your particular niche. Build a client base, whether clients are local (ex., organizing children's birthday parties) or global (ex., assessing value of antiquarian books). Or start a completely new service business -- what do you know or do that is of value to others?
E-goods Creators/Sellers
Are you a programmer (or hire one!) with an idea for a needed niche-filling software? Or perhaps you have an idea for an e-book related to your niche? Maybe you're a photographer with collections of e-photos (the e-photo sales market is booming!). Even digital sounds, lectures or courses. Anything can be digitized nowadays-- what can you digitize and sell?
Hard Goods Creators/Sellers
Are you a small business or an artisan that creates/manufactures/retails your own hard goods (i.e., products that you can actually touch and that you ship -- non-digital products)? Put up (copy-and-paste HTML) your own store and sell direct to your end-user. What could be more rewarding... in so many more ways than just financial?
Sales and Rental Agents/Reps/Distributors
It's your traffic -- sell or rent what you want, how you want. Do you represent great products, either for sale (from medical equipment to ice cream makers) and/or for rent (from apartments and villas to heavy equipment)? SBI! can boost your sales by millions, your commissions by tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars (literally).
Affiliates
Refer visitors to high-quality online merchants in return for a commission. It's risk-free, the recommendations provide an additional service for your visitors, and there's no downside. Add hundreds-to-thousands of dollars per month to your diversified monetization plan, without having a product of your own -- no warehousing, packaging, shipping, etc. And if you do sell a product of your own, simply choose merchants that complement your product line.
Referrers/Finders
Another great "add-on" monetizer. This model is as classic as business itself... get paid a referrer or finder's fee by an offline business for finding a customer (or a "lead") for it... grow the concept into an alliance of self-referring, complementary businesses (offering both products and services). Your high volume Web site makes this a highly cost-effective income-generator.
Existing Online Businesses/E-commerce Sites
Already have an existing online business or e-commerce sites? Do you need an ongoing stream of free, targeted traffic... motivated, interested buyers? Use SBI! as a traffic-funnel, for a tiny fraction of the cost of your primary site.
Network Marketers/Multi-Level Marketers
Forget those spammy online lead-generators. Imagine if you could build your own unique site that attracted and PREsold warm leads to call YOU all day long? No more "you chasing them." A site that builds a mere 100 visitors per day (which is nothing for an SBI! site) is the equivalent of you making a daily presentation to 100 people offline! And your e-zine gives you an ongoing way to reach subscribers. That is exactly what you and SBI! can achieve together.
Net Auction Sellers
Put eBay to work for you, instead of vice-versa. Use them as a supplemental source of income to auction a product that relates to your theme. Especially useful for local businesses or vendors that sell hard goods, and even for service-sellers. And obviously, for those who want to start an online auction business. Regardless, the key here is that you own your business, not eBay, because you own your traffic.
Local Offline Businesses
If you own an offline business with local clientele, a Web site is a must. Use it to grow your business locally, build trust and deepen relationships with existing local customers, raise your local profile above that of competitors, stay top-of-mind through your e-zine, attract new clients, and, in many cases, to extend your market globally (yes, you!) Your world, your reach, your impact is now much, much bigger than a 4" x 2" Yellow Pages ad. Think of a Web site as a super-Yellow Pages ad... with 100 times the results... at 1/10 of the price.
And finally, there's a specialized kind of service business that is really catching on to SBI!...
Web Professionals
Your design work is sharp and creative. Your clients like your sites. But they ask... "So how do I get traffic?" It's time to convert your satisfied clients into raving fans, while simultaneously boosting productivity by 1000%. Webmasters who use SBI! (in conjunction with all their favorite tools and technologies like FrontPage or DreamWeaver, Flash, CSS, JS, etc.) do far more than build a site... they build business for their clients. Try SBI! for your next SSB client... once you see the results, the cost-effectiveness of all that SBI! delivers... you'll use it for every SSB client.
Does your situation match one of the above? If so, SBI! is for you. Now you can focus on doing business instead of fighting technology and mastering Search Engines. And that is all e-commerce really is... doing business online.

Important
The people featured here receive no compensation of any kind from SiteSell.com. Their stories are true. They write and update their case studies as their way to share SBI! with you.

If you read all of these Case Studies, you will notice one common thread... They all simply did it. They have "BAM" ("Brain - Attitude - Motivation"), the key ingredient that you must add to SBI!.

"Brain" does not mean "brainy." It means they have, or developed, knowledge in a niche. "Attitude" means they are positive. And "motivation" means they want to build a business and take control of their lives enough to sacrifice leisure activities.

We point this out because we do not want to falsely raise your expectations. SBI! does not deliver "automatic success." Nothing can.

Your degree of success depends on your own level of "BAM," upon how much time you devote to building your business, and upon following the process correctly (every successful SBIer will tell you, "Follow the Action Guide").

SBI! does deliver what it promises... your best chance at e-business success. SBI! works... if you work it.
There are so many Web hosting companies chasing your business... from the "local expert" to the largest multi-national companies. There is a lot of noise out there, all promising the instant gratification of "getting your site up."

Choosing the future home of your business is not an easy decision. Once you do get started with Site Build It!, of course, you understand...

You see the results. Your business builds. You realize that your life is changing in significant ways.

And that is why so many SBI! users go on to start a second site (many have five or more!) after their first one is established... without hesitation.

But right now, there is a lot of noise clamoring for your attention. And, unlike the others, we don't promise "instant gratification." That's not realistic for those who want to build a real business.

We do, however, promise (actually, we guarantee) that the SBI! Process (Content Traffic PREsell Monetize) works. We back that up with certified proof of success. No other company in the world can match that.

Still, nothing gets a point across better than the personal, real-world experience of people just like you. The case studies here are detailed recountings of individual SBI! experiences, each in their own words, in their own styles.

As you review their stories, do more than read the words -- read between the lines. Feel the emotion they have for SBI!. It is the very rare product that creates the type of intensity you are about to experience.

With that in mind, let's proceed with the case studies, as told directly by small business people from around the globe -- people who "took a chance" and then realized...

Their worlds had changed.

The Associated Press: 72,000 stimulus payments went to dead people

The Associated Press: 72,000 stimulus payments went to dead people

WASHINGTON — More than 89,000 stimulus payments of $250 each went to people who were either dead or in prison, a government investigator says in a new report.

The payments, which were part of last year's massive economic recovery package, were meant to increase consumer spending to help stimulate the economy.

But about $18 million went to nearly 72,000 people who were dead, according to the report by the Social Security Administration's inspector general. The report estimates that a little more than half of those payments were returned.

An additional $4.3 million went to more than 17,000 prison inmates, the report said. Most of the inmates, it turns out, were eligible to get the payments because they were newly incarcerated and had been receiving Social Security before they were locked up.

In all, the $250 payments were sent to about 52 million people who receive either Social Security or Supplemental Security Income, at a cost of about $13 billion. Other federal retirees also received the payments, but they were not part of the inspector general's review.

The inspector general for the Social Security Administration has been performing an audit to make sure no checks went to ineligible recipients. The latest report was dated Sept. 24 but was just recently posted to the agency's website.

People were eligible for payments if they were getting benefits during any one of the three months before the law was passed in February 2009.

Dead people were ineligible to get the payments. But, the report said, there is no provision in the law to recover payments incorrectly sent to dead people.

"Based on the failure of the SSA to properly check its records, and Congress' failure to fully think through the provisions needed to govern these payments, SSA lost $22.3 million in American tax dollars," said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. "These findings are yet another example of congressional stupidity and a lack of accountability."

The Social Security Administration said that despite tight deadlines, workers accurately processed more than 99.8 percent of the 52 million stimulus payments.

"We worked with Treasury, developed new processes, and began issuing (payments) about 30 days earlier than the legislatively mandated deadline," the agency said in a written response included in the inspector general's report. "This was a major accomplishment for our agency."

The inspector general's report said that if similar payments are authorized in the future, prison inmates should be ineligible and the government should be able to recover payments made to dead people.

The Social Security Administration agreed with the recommendations.

Once Upon A Time

I'll leave you with a bit of history about Sara few know. At the age of 3 months she was smuggled into prison on Christmas Eve. No one knew she was there until the last Silent Night was being sung and the cry of a baby was heard. Unintended, Sara became 'baby Jesus' to a group of prisoners who slept a little more peaceful that night for Sara's cry. She brought peace and joy that night to prisoners much like Jesus brought Peace and Joy to shepherds. Still today, like Jesus, Sara still brings peace and joy to the world.

Your Children Are in Danger! Only You Can Save Them

There's a man out there who's trying to get your three-year-old hooked on hard-core drugs. He's a guy you respect and look up to. He's a guy you know and trust: someone who's been in your children's lives since they were born.

He's a friend of the family: just looking out for you. And he'll convince you he's doing this for your kids: that they need these drugs for their own good. He may even set your kids up for free - at first. "Just a sample: it's on the house. Give it a try - you're gonna like it..."

And he's got a big bag full of tricks: all kinds of pretty pills. Pretty pills that will help your kids: colorful candy that will improve your kids.

This bag of tricks can do almost anything for your children:

Take kids who are hyper and calm 'em down.
Help troubled children toe the line.
Turn failing students into star scholars.
And chances are, you'll fall for it. After all, why wouldn't you? He's even got a license to prove he knows what he's doing.

He'll tell you what these pills will do for your kids. But he won't tell you what they'll do to your kids. You might not be so sure that he's got their best interests at heart then. Not when they start changing and getting sad...not when they get angry because they need their fix. Your once-happy, rambunctious kids are suddenly day-dreaming about suicide. Your once-healthy children are having heart palpitations and coronary complications.

They've left childhood behind and stepped through a door into a dark world. A world of addiction: a world of need. And that's their world for the rest of their lives.

Think it can't happen in your world? Think this "family friend" would be exposed...run out of town? The media would warn you about him...the government would protect you from him. Think again. They know about him. They endorse him. They even gave him his license.

Because this pusher is your children's doctor and the drugs he's pushing are all legal.

Sound like a punch line to a bad joke? Sadly, it's not: I'm deadly serious. The big pharmaceutical companies are pushing dangerous drugs to your kids, and they want get them before they can even say "no." Don't think that they would really dope up your beautiful baby? Sure they would: they have at least 4.8 billion reasons to do so.

Dangerous Drugs

What are these drugs that doctors can legally peddle to your kids? The most identified ones are amphetamines and methylphenidates: drugs that calm and focus the brain. You'll know them by their brand names: Adderall, Ritalin and Strattera. These drugs help reduce excess energy and heighten attention. They're prescribed to kids diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

So, if you have kids who are acting up at school, or are always "on-the-go," they may be diagnosed with ADHD. If they're diagnosed with ADHD, a doctor may prescribe ADHD drugs. ADHD drugs don't sound too dangerous. But these drugs can literally kill your child. ADDitude Magazine lists six common side effects of taking ADHD medications.

Loss of appetite, weight loss
Growth problems
Trouble falling asleep
Dizziness
Irritability, sadness, moodiness, or agitation within one to two hours after taking the drug
Sadness, irritability, or worsening of ADHD symptoms as the drug wears off
Perhaps you consider these to be minor side effects. Your children may be happier and more focused. They might even score higher at school. Just don't think too much about those symptoms worsening "as the drug wears off." And don't look too closely at the descriptions put out by Drugs.com. That language is pretty scary. A quick review of the generic versions of those drugs tells us that they may:

Have a high potential for abuse
Be habit forming
Impair vision
Cause serious heart problems
Create blood-vessel problems
Result in sudden death
How to retire rich without saving your whole life

After decades of bills, hefty mortgage payments...and paying off their kids' college tuitions...few people have enough for retirement.

But some aren't worried at all.

That's because they've found a way to retire luxuriously without saving money their entire lives.

Here are the full details...

Corporate Cover Up

If ADHD drugs can cause death, surely the newspapers would be all over that, right? Well, actually no, they wouldn't be, as I'll explain later. But the information is out there - you just have to know where to find it.

"ADHD drugs are linked to sudden death in children." That's what an American Journal of Psychiatry study found in June 2009. It revealed that ADHD stimulants posed a risk in children who previously had no underlying heart conditions.

"The association is...real," said study author Madelyn S. Gould, Ph.D. Gould is a professor of psychiatry and public health at Columbia University, in New York. "There probably does need to be more careful monitoring."

Gould studied medical records of 10 children who had all died from unexplained heart problems. In those 10 cases, the children were all taking methylphenidates.

The medical community was keen to bury the report. Dr. James Perrin, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital for Children, dismissed the study.

"The study adds very little to what we already know - that some children who receive stimulants experience sudden unexpected death," said Dr. Perrin. "The current study should not change the use of any medications or treatments."

The parents of the 10 children who died would probably disagree.

In April 2008, the American Heart Association (AHA) recommended that kids get an electrocardiogram (EKG) before taking ADHD drugs. EKG's detect cardiac ailments that increase a child's risk for sudden heart problems. The recommendation drew swift criticism from the medical community. The drug manufacturers remained silent, allowing doctors to speak for them. The AHA bowed to pressure and issued a revised recommendation a month later. The new recommendation? Kids did not need an EKG before starting ADHD drugs. An EKG was "reasonable, but not mandatory."

In February 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) voted to include black-box warnings on ADHD drugs. Black-box warnings are the government's strongest safety alert.

The proposed warning referenced the risk of sudden unexplained death. A month later, the FDA advisory panel rejected the stringent black-box warning. Once again, just like the AHA, the FDA later revised their recommendation. Manufacturers were asked to add a warning label: the medications should not be used in children with structural heart problems.

There's a clear pattern: a report is released showing that these drugs are dangerous. The report is dismissed. A governing health body advises extreme caution regarding these dangerous drugs...and then mysteriously revises the warning to cast a more favorable light on the drugs.

Why the Cover UP?

If ADHD drugs can result in sudden death, why would we possibly consider prescribing them to our kids? Well, that's really the point of the cover up. The medical industry keeps the truth hidden so you don't have the information you need to protect your kids.

At the beginning of the article I told you there were 4.8 billion reasons why the drug industry would be willing to dope your kids up for life. In 2008 U.S. sales of ADHD drugs totaled $4.8 billion. Those sales enjoyed a further 9.1 percent rise in 2009.

That's big business for the pharmaceutical companies. So big that they made a $16 billion investment and gave drugs away for free! You heard that right: Pediatrics Journal reported that Big Pharma gave away $16 billion in free drug samples in 2004 alone. Over 10 percent of all U.S. kids taking prescription meds scored free drugs. And among those freebies were Adderall and Strattera.

Want to know who was hooking your kids up with freebies? Doctors were the primary pushers. The same friendly doctors who are diagnosing ADHD and prescribing related drugs.

Not convinced that ADHD drugs are over-prescribed? What would you say if I told you prescriptions for amphetamines rose 133 percent in five years? Prescriptions for methylphenidates rose by 52 percent. That's from data collected by the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

But don't take my word for it. There are real-life professionals willing to testify about the conspiracy.

Dr. Emmett Harrington has operated his own wellness practice for over 25 years in Winter Haven, Florida. He's had first-hand experience of the system pressuring parents to medicate their children. Dr. Harrington was brave enough to tell THB the real truth. His own grandson was diagnosed with ADHD and he was powerless to intervene.

"My daughter was advised by her son's teachers that if he wasn't put on Ritalin he could no longer be allowed to attend their classes," said Dr. Harrington. "My daughter felt she had no choice but to comply even though she respects that her father (a clinical nutritional physician) offered a more natural solution."

So how are the pharmaceutical companies getting away with this? Because doctors are pushing the drugs for them. And if a doctor tells us it's good for us, we believe them. It's all "comes from the erroneous philosophy that an M.D. knows best," explained Dr. Harrington. "It's been ingrained by the American Medical Association."

Doctors Pushing Drugs

A recent online Q&A between a "concerned" parent and an ADHD book-publishing doctor went something like this:

Parent: What's the youngest age at which a child can be diagnosed with, and treated for, ADHD? My three-year-old is hyperactive and I worry about his safety.

Doctor: It's unusual for a child to be diagnosed before the age of five. But since your son is showing signs of ADHD, there's no need to wait. Have the doctor evaluate your three-year-old and ask about starting medication. The latest research shows that stimulants are now safe and effective - even for preschoolers.

That's an actual online exchange between a doctor and a parent. The salient point: doctors hooking up three-year-olds with drugs.

A parent tells a doctor that their three-year old is hyperactive. This doctor considers that adequate evidence that the child has ADHD. That seems like quite a leap, and one the doctor was eager to make. Surely a sensible series of tests and procedures might reveal that the child doesn't have ADHD? Perhaps there's another solution available - other than drugs?

Surely drugs should not be the first response?

"Absolutely not," said Dr. Emmett Harrington. "Most medical doctors [do not] take the appropriate time to properly dig for the initiatory cause."

ADHD Drugs: Safe and Effective?

Our online doctor assures the parent that ADHD drugs are "safe and effective." But how can that be when you read reports like this:

According to Consumer Reports, all ADHD drugs may have long-term risks. Those risks include heart attack, stunted growth and sudden death. Not so "safe" then.
Sami Timimi is a child psychiatry professor at England's Lincoln University. She says there is no evidence that ADHD drugs ensure long-term success. Multiple U.S. studies agree: the brain-focusing-drug methylphenidate only works for a couple of years. Not so "effective" then either.
Overdoses, Suicide and Teen Abuse

The similarities between ADHD drugs and recognized hard-core drugs are impossible to ignore. They are behavior-altering, brain-changing and highly addictive. Here are three clear warnings about the most recognized brand-name ADHD drugs:

Consumer Reports advises that children on Adderall need close monitoring. Why? To ensure the drug is not abused, given away to friends, or sold.
Strattera is mood altering. It carries a warning that children who take it are at high risk for contemplating or committing suicide.
A 2001 study found that Ritalin had a more potent effect on the brain than cocaine.
Reuters reported in 2009 that teen overdoses linked directly to ADHD drugs rose by 76 percent over eight years. This figure paralleled the 80 percent rise in ADHD drug prescriptions during the same period. The report was coordinated by Dr. Jennifer Setlik of the American Association of Poison Control Centers.

"Clearly, we are seeing a rising problem with the abuse of these medications," reported Dr. Setlik. "The findings suggest that more teens are abusing and misusing stimulant ADHD medications because they have access to those medications, not because a higher percentage of those treated have turned to abusing their medication."

That report is not an isolated one. The National Institute on Drug Abuse is also reviewing over 7 million methylphenidate-related abuse reports. The big concern? That the drugs are being abused to score artificial highs or to get better school grades.

Don't think there's a connection between methylphenidate and drug abuse. The same "medication" also popped up on a list of "Most Dangerous Drugs" in March 2007. The list was compiled by the U.K. Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. They sandwiched the ADHD drug in between LSD and Anabolic Steroids. Nice company. So here's a question for you: would you be happy giving your kids LSD or Anabolic Steroids? I don't think so. But you still think ADHD drugs are okay?

"Safe and effective"? You must be joking...Have no doubt: this is big business. And the only one looking out for your child's best interests is you.

In an upcoming Health Watch article, I'll give you a few simple and all-natural alternatives that can help kids who've been diagnosed with ADHD. Look out for this article in the next few weeks.

FBI Escorts Known Hamas Operative Through Top-Secret National Counterterrorism Center as “Outreach” to Muslim Community

A known Hamas operative and unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history – Kifah Mustapha – was recently escorted into the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center and other secure government facilities, including the FBI’s training center at Quantico, during a six-week “Citizen’s Academy” hosted by the FBI as part of its “outreach” to the Muslim Community. The group was accompanied by reporter Ben Bradley of WLS-Chicago (ABC), who filed a report on the trip to Washington D.C. on Sunday, who observed:

Sheik Kifah Mustapha, who runs the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, asked some of the most pointed questions during the six week FBI Citizens’ Academy and trip to Washington. He pushed agents to fully explain everything from the bureau’s use of deadly force policy to racial and ethnic profiling. “I saw a very interesting side of what the FBI does and I wanted to know more,” Sheik Mustapha explained after returning from D.C. He hopes the FBI’s outreach runs deeper than positive public relations.

Yes, I bet he wanted to know everything about the FBI’s policies.

Curiously, Bradley’s report on the Citizen’s Academy fails to make note Mustapha’s extensive terrorist ties and support for Hamas, including his former employment with the Holy Land Foundation, which was listed as a specially designated terrorist group by the U.S. government in December 2001, and whose executives were convicted of terrorism support in 2008 and sentenced to lengthy prison terms. Mustapha was personally named unindicted co-conspirator (#31) in the case and employment records submitted by federal prosecutors during the trial showed that he received more than $154,000 for his work for the Holy Land Foundation between 1996 and 2000. During the trial, FBI Special Agent Lara Burns testified that Mustapha also sang in a band sponsored by the Holy Land Foundation that regularly featured songs dedicated to killing Jews and glorifying Hamas. In a deposition he gave in a civil trial concerned with the murder of a Chicago teenager killed by Hamas while waiting for a bus in Israel, Mustapha admitted that he was the registered agent for the Holy Land Foundation in Illinois, and also to his involvement with other Hamas front groups, including the Islamic Association for Palestine. He was later hired as an imam by the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, which the Chicago Tribune reported in 2004 has long been a hotbed of Hamas support.

Bradley’s omission of this information about Kifah Mustapha in his report on Sunday is all the more curious since his own station aired an extensive investigative report of Mustapha’s terrorist ties earlier this year.

The WLS investigation into Mustapha’s terrorist ties was prompted by a report published by the Investigative Project on Terrorism in January, which noted that Mustapha had been selected and trained as a chaplain by the Illinois State Police despite his documented terrorist support. The State Police eventually withdrew Mustapha’s appointment as chaplain and just last month he filed a lawsuit against the agency claiming discrimination aided by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, another FBI-identified Hamas front group.

There are several obvious problems with this episode, the first being the FBI’s “outreach” to a known Hamas operative (identified as such by federal prosecutors) and walking him through some of our country’s most sensitive counter-terrorism facilities. Why should terrorist operatives have to covertly case potential targets when the FBI will happily escort them and taken them into areas they would never be able to reach on their own? Who’s next on the FBI’s “outreach” calendar, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow GITMO detainees?

This ongoing “outreach” to terror-linked individuals and leaders of known terrorist front groups by senior leaders of our national security, homeland security and law enforcement agencies is the kind of behavior criticized by my colleagues and I in the Team B II’s report released earlier this month, “Shariah: The Threat to America“. As I observed last week here at Big Peace, Matt Duss of the Center for America Progress and ThinkProgress.org demands that we continue this insane national policy of embracing the same individuals and organizations who have been caught openly cheerleading for Islamic terrorists and have called for the destruction of the U.S. and Western Civilization.

The other glaring problem is that a reporter working in one of the largest media markets in the country can travel to such an event and be unaware of or unwilling to mention his own station’s reporting on his travel partner’s terrorist support activities. Such is the state of the establishment media today.

"I'm Going To Kansas City"

As my case of auto theft was adjudicated, consideration seemed to sway in favor of finding a suitable environment where I might adjust. It is hard to specualte just what reasoning went into the courtws descision or who even were the decision makers. Eventuall the Catholic Charities got involved and I was sent to a boys homne out side of kansas City, Mo.

Ozanam Home for Boys was a small school as far as instituiions went only 30 boys were in it. situated outside Kansas City, Mo. I arrived in June of 1959. I recalled a popular song at that time, "I'm going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come." by Wilbert Harrison. I would start High School in Kansas City but first the school was going on vacation. California here I come. I recall we traveled in a Nash Rambler, a Station wagon and a Volkswagon bus.

I have little recall of how the fight started but therfe I was in the midst of a fight with "hillbilly" Ofcourse 'Hillbilly' wasn't his real name. but distinguisehd from the other boys he was a hillbilly.

A Re-Birth of Faith in Our Future

A FREEDOM LINKED TO SECURITY

By THOMAS E. DEWEY, Governor of New York, and Republican Presidential Nominee

Broadcast from Convention Hall, Philadelphia, Pa., September 7, 1944

Vital Speeches of the Day, Vol. X, pp. 719-721.

TONIGHT we open a campaign to decide the course of our country for many years to come. The next national Administration will take office Jan. 20, 1945, and will serve until 1949. Those years 1945 to 1949 will be largely—and we pray, wholly—peace-time years.

For nearly three years our nation has been engaged in a world war. Today our armed forces are winning victory after victory. Total, smashing victory is in sight. Germany and Japan shall be given the lessons of their lives—right in Berlin and Tokyo.

America—our America which loves peace so dearly—is proving once again that it can wage war mightily . . . that it can crush any aggressor who threatens the freedom which we love even more than peace. The American people have risen to the challenge. The war is being won on the battlefronts. It is also being won in the factory, the office, the farm, the mine and the home.

Yes, we are proving that we can wage war. But what are the prospects of success as a nation at peace? The answer depends entirely on the outcome of this election.

At the very outset I want to make one thing clear. This is not merely a campaign against an individual or a political party. It is not merely a campaign to displace a tired, exhausted, quarreling and bickering Administration with a fresh and vigorous Administration. It is a campaign against an Administration which was conceived in defeatism, which failed for eight straight years to restore our domestic economy, which has been the most wasteful, extravagant and incompetent Administration in the history of the nation and worst of all, one which has lost faith in itself and in the American people.

This basic issue was clearly revealed in the recent announcement by the Director of Selective Service in Washington. He said that when Germany and Japan have been defeated it will still be necessary to demobilize the armed forces very gradually. And why? Because, he said, "We can keep people in the Army about as cheaply as we could create an agency for them when they are out."

For six months we have been hearing statements from the New Deal underlings in Washington that this was the plan. Now it is out in the open. They have been working up to it. Because they are afraid of peace. They are afraid of a continuance of their own failures to get this country going again. They are afraid of America.

I do not share that fear. I believe that our members of the armed forces should be transported home and released at the earliest practical moment after victory. I believe that the occupation of Germany and Japan should very soon be confined to those who voluntarily choose to remain in the Army when peace comes. I am not afraid of the future of America—either immediate or distant. I am sure of our future, if we get a national Administration which believes in our country.

The New Deal was founded on the philosophy that our frontiers are behind us and all we have left to do is to quarrel over the division of what we have. Mr. Roosevelt himself said in 1932: "Our industrial plant is built . . . our I task is not . . . necessarily producing more goods. It is the soberer, less dramatic business of administering resources and plants already in hand." The New Deal operated on that philosophy for seven straight peace-time years with unlimited power. At the end of that time in 1939, the New Deal gave its own official verdict on its failure by this cold admission: "The American economic machine is stalled on dead center."

The Administration knows that the war, with all its tragic toll of death, debt and destruction, is the only thing that saved it. They are deadly afraid that they will go back to resumption of their own failures. That is why they are afraid to let men out of the Army. That is why they say it is cheaper to keep men in the Army than to let them come home.

Now let us get another point straight for the records right here at the beginning. In the last hundred years we have had eleven periods during which business and employment were well below normal. During that period, the average depression lasted two years. In the entire hundred years the longest depression of all was five years and the next longest was four years—up to the last one.

When this Administration took office the depression was already over three years old. Then what happened? In 1933, when the depression was then five years old—longer than any other in a century, we still had 12,000,000 unemployed. By 1940 the depression was almost eleven years old. This Administration had been in power for seven straight years and there were still 10,000,000 Americans unemployed.

It took a world war to get jobs for the American people.

Let's get one thing clear and settled. Who was President during the depression that lasted from 1933 until some time in 1940, when war orders from all over the world began to bring us full employment again? The New Deal kept this country in a continuous state of depression for seven straight years. It made a three-year depression last eleven years—over twice as long as any other depression in a whole century.

Now, Washington is getting all set for another depression. They intend to keep the young men in the Army. TheNew Deal spokesmen are daily announcing that reconversion will be difficult, if not impossible. They say that relief rolls will be enormous. They drearily promise us that we will need to prepare for an army of unemployed bigger than the armies we have put in the field against the Germans and the Japanese. That's what's wrong with the New Deal. That's why it's time for a change.

The reason for this long-continued failure is two-fold. First, because there never was a worse job done of running our government. When one agency fails the New Deal just piles another on and we pay for both. When men quarrel, there is no one in authority to put a stop to it. When agencies get snarled up there is no one in authority to untangle them. Meanwhile, the people's business goes to pot and the people are the victims.

Right in the final crisis of this war, the most critical of all war agencies—the War Production Board—fell apart before our eyes. This is also the board in charge of reconversion and jobs. Yet, we have seen quarreling, disunity and public recriminations day after day as one competent man after another resigned and the head of the board was sent to China. We have seen this happen in agency after agency. The cost to the war effort to the country can never be calculated. And it's time the people put an end to it.

When the W. P. B. fell apart, so did your chance under this Administration for jobs after the war. For now the New Dealers have moved in, and their handiwork, their promise for America is not jobs—but the dole.

The other reason for this long continued failure—the reason why they are now dismally preparing for another depression—is because this Administration has so little faith in the United States. They believe in the defeatist philosophy that our industrial plant is built, that our task is not to produce more goods but to fight among ourselves over what we have.

I believe that we have not even begun to build our industrial plant We have not exhausted our inventive genius. We have not exhausted our capacity to produce more goods for our people. No living man has yet dreamed of the limit to which we can go if we have a government which believes in the American economic system and in the American people.

This Administration is convinced that we can achieve social security only by surrendering a little bit of freedom for every little bit of security. That is exactly what our enemies thought. So their people first lost their freedom and then their security. I cannot accept that course for America. I believe—I know—that we can achieve real social security only if we do keep our freedom.

There can be—there must be—jobs and opportunity for all, without discrimination on account of race, creed, color or national origin. There must be jobs in industry, in agriculture, in mines, in stores, in offices, at a high level of wages and salaries. There must be opportunity and incentive for men and women to go into business for themselves.

The war has proved that despite the New Deal, America can mightily increase its frontiers of production. With competent government America can produce mightily for peace. And the standard of living of our people is limited only by the amount of goods and services we are able to produce.

The New Deal prepares to keep men in the Army because it is afraid of a resumption of its own depression. They can't think of anything for us to do once we stop building guns and tanks. But to those who believe in America there's lots to do. Why, just take housing, for example. If we simply build the homes the American people need in order to be decently housed, it will keep millions of men employed for years. After twelve years of the New Deal the housing of the American people has fallen down so badly that just to come up to the standards of 1930 we will need to build more than a million homes a year for many years to come. And this does not include the enormous need for farm housing repairs and alterations.

By the end of this year we will have an immediate need for 6,000,000 automobiles just to put the same number of cars back on the road that were there in 1941. We will need after the war 3,500,000 vacuum cleaners, 7,000,000 clocks, 23,000,000 radio sets, 5,000,000 refrigerators, 10,000,000 electric irons, 3,000,000 washing machines and millions of other household appliances. There are 600 different articles made of steel and iron which have not been manufactured since 1942. All this means production and production means jobs. But that kind of production and that kind of job are beyond the experience and vision of the New Deal.

The transportations industry—rail, air and motor—is waiting to get going.

The mighty energy we found lying dormant and unused in this country at the beginning of the war must be turned from destruction to creation. There can and must be jobs for all who want them and a free, open door for every man who wants to start out in business for himself.

We know from long experience that we will not provide jobs and restore small business by the methods of the New Deal. We cannot keep our freedom and at the same time continue experimentation with new policy every day by the national government. We cannot succeed with a controlled and regulated society under a government which destroys incentive, chokes production, fosters disunity and discourages men with vision and imagination from creating employment and opportunity.

The New Deal really believes that unemployment is bound to be with us permanently. It says so. They will change this twelve-year-old tune between now and election. They have done it every time. But they've always come back to it after election. The New Deal really believes that we cannot have good social legislation and also good jobs for all. I believe with all my heart and soul that we can have both.

Of course, we need security regulation. Of course, we need bank-deposit insurance. Of course, we need price support for agriculture. Of course, the farmers of this country cannot be left to the hazards of a world price while they buy their goods on an American price. Of course, we need unemployment insurance and old-age pensions and also relief whenever there are not enough jobs. Of course, the rights of labor to organize and bargain collectively are fundamental. My party blazed the trail in that field by passage of the Railway Labor Act in 1926.

But we must also have a government which believes in enterprise and government policies which encourage enterprise. We must see to it that a man who wants to start a business is encouraged to start it, that the man who wants to expand a going business is encouraged to expand it. We must see to it that the job-producing enterprises of America are stimulated to produce more jobs. We must see to it that the man who wants to produce more jobs is not throttled by the government—but knows that he has a government as eager for him to succeed as he is, himself.

We cannot have jobs and opportunity if we surrender our freedom to government control. We do not need to surrender our freedom to government control in order to have the economic security to which we are entitled as free men. We can have both opportunity and security within the framework of a free society. That is what the American people will say at the election next November.

With the winning of the war in sight, there are twoovershadowing problems. First, the making and keeping of the peace of the world so that your children and my children shall not face this tragedy all over again. This great objective to which we are all so deeply devoted, I shall talk about at Louisville tomorrow night on the radio.

The other problem is whether we shall replace the tired and quarrelsome defeatism of the present Administration with a fresh and vigorous government which believes in the future of the United States, and knows how to act on that belief.

Such action involves many things: Tax policies, regulatory policies, labor policies, opportunity for small business, the bureaucracies which are attempting to regulate every detail of the lives of our people—these are all of major importance. I shall discuss each of them in detail before this campaign is over. I will discuss them in plain English and say what we propose to do about them.

I am interested—desperately interested in bringing to our country a re-birth of faith in our future. I am deeply interested in bringing a final end to the defeatism and failure of this Administration in its domestic policies. I am deeply devoted to the principle that victory in this war shall mean victory for freedom and for the permanent peace of the world. Our place in a peaceful world can and will be made secure. But nothing on earth will make us secure unless we are strong, unless we are productive and unless we have faith in ourselves. We can and we will recover our future and go forward in the path of freedom and security. I have unlimited faith that the American people will choose that path next November.

I am sick and tired.

For over 30 years I have advocated for the prisoners in this country. I have advocated for prison minstries ever since I accepted Jesus Christ. I have advocated for the 2nd Chance Act, for jobs programs, for education. I have encouraged others and my church to get involved in prison minsitries, but after this morning's reading of the paper I have to tell you, I am tired. I am tired of reading about one more child slain in the street, one more honor roll student who won't be attending school because he was killed in cold blood, I am tired of my neighbors being burglarized and the church which owns the building merely saying "to bad, so sad", I'm not advocating anymore for mercy unless justice comes first...

Brendan is aboard the USS Nimitz

A Day In The Life Of Reilly

A great deal of busyness has descended upon me necessatating that I accomplish all of this work in a short amount of time. So far I have managed to burn the oatmeal. I did upgrad my cable package to include the ME channels that the government ripped me off of when they hijacked our TVs'. Ok, I need to stay on track and not get off on a tangent as I am sometimes want to do.

Ok, I am going to save this as a draft but I don't think I am going to be able to retrieve this from here.  Oh, I see what happens, it transports the 'saved draft' to my blog where I post articles at. Ok, thats cool at least don't lose it but now, I can't use that feature that allows me to start a post from my home page, oh, so what, type fool. Gonna save it again and see what happens this time.

Oh, I guess I got two things done and now on to the rest, lets just call it busy stuff.  Gonna go wash Dick's Car.  Someone asked me do I own a car and I said no, but ask me if I have access to a car and I have a small fleet.  To the best friends and neighbors do I owe such privilege.  OK, gotta go.

Now as we approach the noon hour a nap is coming on and the question is should I eat before I go to sleep or after.  I've been told it is not good to eat a turkey dinner at thanksgiving and then lay down for a nap. I think it may have had to do with the indians still hanging around I don' know.  And you know there is a team in Skokie who call themselves the Skokie Indians, so there you have it.  My eyes really are falling asleep and since typing is dep[endent upoon seeing I think we should depart from this.  I best save it first.

Back from my mid-day nap and ready to get back at it. Have to avoid this hurricane that is blistering its way through the house cleaning everything in sight.  Hey, it just might be time to throw in a picture or video.

Here we are in Los Angeles, California visiting the Getty Museum.  We being refined folks as we is, we decided to enhance our appreciation for the arts.  No one who observed us that day could tell we were from the lower trappings of life having lived in our 1 bedroom apartments back in Evanston, Illinois.  No, and infact we at one point went to Rodeo Drive to hob nob with the rich and famous.

Later in the day, I do believe it was that day or maybe another day we took Ruth to LAX, Los Angeles International Airport.  It was quite a ride where we thought we were lost and took a chance on a unidentified exit and there we were right smack dab heading for the airport.  I played like I knew it all along and was the hero for the day.

During my stay in California I even got to meet and hug a real live movie star, Stephnie Weir of MAD TV fame and sitcom The Wedding Planner.

Now I must return to my work for the day after that brief respite to La la land.
More thanks to Hannah and Alex for their hosting us that year in 2005.

Don't Come Home A Drinkin'

I reckon will try somthing here tonight and put multiple videos into one posting.  Starting with the exciting Loretta Lynn.  Brings me back to a story when I was hitch hiking up from Tampa, Florida in December of 1970.  I had the misfortune of being picked up by people who were more broke than I was.  Yes, they had a car but not much else.  We managed to make it to Marion, Illinois. An infamous town for its having located a Federal Penitentiary there to replace Alcatraz.  Normally I wouldn't have much paid attention to such facts except I had been housed there about 3 years prior to my visit then.  I'd had about enough of my benefactors at that point given the woman seemed to have been uneasy about my presence ever since Birminham when I backed their car down into a gulley on a rainsoaked night outside a truck stop. To tell you the truth I was a little uneasy about her to seeing how she looked a lot like Bette Davis with a butcher knife in her hand.

Problem was I had a friend in Marion.  The 1st problem was that I had met him in prison and he wasn't expecting me to be dropping in like that. A B-rated movie was coming into focus here when the second problem reared its ugly head.  I had forgotten his name.  That little fact didn't seem to disturb me to much because he said his name was on the town square for his having fought in Viet Nam. Now its a known fact that convicts are no strangers to lying about exploits but to say you fought in Viet Nam and you weren't a politician, well I tended to believe him. But what was his name?

I trusted that when I got to his name it would jump out at me and then what would I do. Look it up in the phone directory I suppose.  The only thing easier would be for him to holler my name as soon as I saw his name, which is exactly what he done. With a dead dear strapped to the hood of his car to boot.  Why he invited me to his home in Pittsburgh, Illinois, just down old 13, 3 miles outside of town.  I layed down on the couch and the next thing I know I'm sleeping.  Voices hung over my head "thats Richards friend." a young female voice said. A mother's size voice said, "he looks safe, he can sleep in the bed."  There were 5 of us at the supper table that night. Richard, in his mid 20's, Tammy, his 18 yr. old girlfriend, Mom and 14 yr. old Robin. And me ofcourse, with a ravenous appetite.

There I was, still at the table, when everyone got up and settled in the living room to watch TV.  "Y'all gonna want the rest of this macaroni?" I hollered. "No, go ahead and finish it. Which I did.  I told Richard what Mom said, and he said, "man, you got it made." I said, "Where does Robin sleep."  Seeing as there just wasn't that much room in this house. "Oh, she sleeps in the bed too." All of sudden southern hospitality was taking on a whole new meaning and freaking me out.  I said ?"Richard, this ain't gonna work out, I'll do just fine on the couch. Which is where I slept that night.

Richard's girlfriend seemed to have a lot of living under her belt. Loretta Lynn was played at 5 O'Clock each night.  I looked at her with a butcher knife in her hand and thought I should limit my conversation with her as well.  Time for me to hop on the Greynhound and get back home.  We had managed to pad our accounts with the sale of some guns we had appropriated with a couple to keep for ourselves as well.  The lone cop in the pool hall was the biggest prompt however.  Our eyes locked immediately when they met and recognized each other. He the guard at Marion, I the inmate who wasn't from around these parts.  Anything gets stolen now, he's going to assume I've got.  So long Richard, see you down the road.  Which I did, in Terre Haute several years later/
